Who sets the prices on the CorporateCars.com
vehicles? Our customers do.
Here’s how. It’s a matter of simple economics. A vehicle is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. That is how markets work. In our case, the wholesale market, our customers set the price level. If the price of a car is too high, it won’t sell. If the price is set too low, multiple buyers will fight for it. CorporateCars.com uses weekly sales results from the wholesale auctions as well as our own sales data to determine the current wholesale value. These numbers vary from week to week and are constantly updated. Many people ask how the market value compares to the Blue Book value. The Blue Book values are static numbers based on the original retail value when it was new minus a mathematical depreciation schedulable. The market value is based on actual sales results. Here’s an example of why the values can vary. When the price of gasoline recently skyrocketed, it resulted in a major shift in the wholesale value of vehicles. Small fuel efficient cars such as Honda Civics and Toyota Corollas jumped by 30% in value while large SUV’s such as Suburban and Escalades dropped by 40%. Compared to the Blue book values, the sales pricing of these vehicles did not make sense. However, common sense explains why the market values changed. All CorporateCars.com vehicles are priced based on the current wholesale values. |
